Some of you may know this and some of you may not but… prior to getting certified for lash extensions I have never ever gotten my own lashes done before.
Now, the next question you might be asking is “Then why did you decide to learn how to do lashes?” I actually was already enrolled for lash lifts/brow lamination but my training was postponed due to the lockdown, so I decided to give lash extensions a try.
Learning how to do extensions was quite the learning curve but I love a good challenge. I love how there is so much to learn in terms of styling and techniques. It’s so satisfying to see your customized work come to reality after all the blood, sweat, and tears your put into the lash set!
One of my fellow lash friends actually one day posted an Instagram story asking a question and I responded to it telling her that I had never gotten lashes before and we talked about how I came to be in this art. She then suggested that it would be a good idea to try out lashes one day just so I can understand my clients more. To be honest, there were a couple of things that held me back from getting extensions:
The upkeep for fills
It's high maintenance (Having to wash it 2x a day, must get fills every 2-3 weeks etc)
My tendency to rub my eyes
My inability to stay still for long periods of time
I decided to treat myself to get lashes during the holidays so I asked around who was willing to accept a flight attendant as a client on IG and Khate aka @lacilia_glam (visit her insta: http://www.instagram.com/lacilia_glam) reached out to me.
There were other artists that reached out to me but I gravitated more towards her and I’ll tell you why.
I chose her because:
Her work is great and fits my style
I know what she looks like - this is SO important to me, if i don’t know what you look like I will not be willing to lay of your lash bed for 3 or more hours
She is active on her social
I like her personality
She actually shows her workspace - I like to see what kind of environment I am getting myself into and how clean it is
BONUS: she has the cutest cats!
I’ve been going to Khate for around 4 months now and she never disappoints.
The very first time I got lashes it felt very weird to have extensions but I got used to it after a few days. (And I RARELY rub my eyes anymore!)
My retention is quite good and she always makes me look amazing! I started with hybrid then onto volume and am always satisfied with my sets with her :) I'm honestly obsessed, my morning routine for work is cut DRASTICALLY (I'm also a flight attendant too btw). I no longer need to spend 20 minutes trying to slap on eyeshadow and struggle with making my eyeliner even.
Though she lives a bit far from me, about a 25-30 minute drive, I think it’s worth it! Hit her up if you’re in the North York area!
